HEIMAL

I left my heron to wait

in hopes of exploration
in this tundra

that is not its own

+DIFFERENT FOX SPECIES

Foxes sneak through the leaves and scout out their natural intuitions
adapting to the elements.

Darwin would be impressed by the variations
red fox, arctic and fennec
all sewed together by vertebrae
and their caching behaviors

WILDFLOWERS IN PROGESS

I’ll watch you notate
the growth of the wildflowers in progress
and I will envy your time

in the field
alone

with your thoughts
and your figures

shuffling your papers
and comparing your charts

never realizing how this will continue
without you

and you will never gain
the same momentum
of the natural specimen
placed right in front of you
